Altitude : 172 m / Surface : 811 acre / 417 inhab.
Les gorges de Colombieres

The name of Colombières-sur-Orb comes from the large dovecotes of the area.

Colombières is comprised of 12 hamlets scattered on the right bank of the Orb River, at the foot of the Caroux massif. The Arles creek has carved the rock to form narrow gorges and then joins the Orb.

The Colombières Gorges are a great place for those who like crystal clear waters, hiking and wild landscapes.

The old Roman stone road has witnessed the traffic and trade between valley and plateau for over 2000 years. Other remains: the oppidum Saucani (Gallic fortification) and stones with "cups", the meaning of which is still unknown.

Later, the cave dwellings, on the way to Lafage hamlet, sheltered chestnut pickers, hunters or shepherds.
